    Seven Arts Entertainment Inc. (SAPX) is the successor to Seven Arts Pictures plc (PLC), which was founded in 2002 as an independent motion picture production and distribution company engaged in the development, acquisition, financing, production, and licensing of theatrical motion pictures for exhibition in domestic (the United States and Canada) and foreign theatrical markets, and for subsequent worldwide release in other forms of media, including home video and pay and free television.

    Investment Highlights

    Seven Arts Entertainment (SAPX) traded as much as $0.42 Thursday as volume spiked to over 4.54 million shares, over six times the 10-day average.  SAPX caught investors’ attention last week after announcing that principal photography on “Schism,” the first film to be produced by Dark Arts, a division of Seven Arts’ affiliate, Esplanade Pictures LLC, would commence on January 16th in New Orleans.

    SAPX shares have gained 16.6% in the last five days; though the stock dropped 70.7% in the last month.  Year-to-date, the stock is down 89.2%.

    “Schism”, written by Adam Gierasch and his partner Jace Anderson, is a frightening picture that will appeal both to Gierasch’s core audience and to the wider audience for films with artistic and creative merit, said SAPX Peter Hoffman

    According to the release, the picture stars Callum Blue of “Smallville”, Vinnie Jones of “Snatch”, and Ashlynn Yennie of “Human Centipede”. Gierasch directs the film. SAPX has previously partnered with Gierasch and Anderson on “Autopsy” and “Night of the Demons.”

    SAPX added $0.05, or 17.2%, to close Thursday’s trade at $0.34.  The stock has so far reached a 52-week high of $5.75, its 52-week low being $0.06. Market capitalization currently stands at 5.34 million and it has 15.70 million outstanding shares.


    Financial Summary

    SAPX realized a loss of $983,291 on limited revenues of $592,541 for the quarter ended September 30, 2011, its first quarter of its fiscal year ended June 30, 2012. That compares to a loss of $747,440 on revenue of $100,305 for the comparable quarter a year ago.

    During the quarter, the Company reported an increase in stockholder equity to approximately $14.63 million, representing the majority of the increases in stockholder equity announced in the Company’s letter to stockholders of November 3, 2011. This compares with stockholder equity at the end of the last fiscal year of about $7.96 million. The Company’s loans payable also dropped from approximately $12.65 million at the end of the last fiscal year to about $7.96 million as of September 30, 2011.

    As stated by CEO Hoffman, the operating loss for the latest reported quarter was expected and does not represent management expectations for the balance of the fiscal year. The Company anticipates substantial fee income and additional film revenue particularly in the second half of the fiscal year.
