    Recent News

QTWW shares soared past 40% gains in Friday’s trading, a day after the Calif.-based alternative fuel technology company published its fourth-quarter financials, posting a 242% year-over-year jump in revenue and a lower quarterly loss.

Revenue for the quarter came in at $8.2 million, as against $2.4 million reported in the year-ago period. The Company attributed the revenue growth to increased development program revenue and product shipments to Fisker Automotive of components related to its Q-Drive hybrid drive systems.

QTWW lowered its net loss to $0.2 million from $5.5 million a year earlier. The Company attributed this improvement to lower operating loss and a $5.0 million non-cash unrealized gain attributable to the change in the value of its derivative liabilities that was recognized in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011, partially offset by a loss in its renewable energy segment.

QTWW’s improved revenues was coupled with a lowering of its operating costs. For the quarter ended April 30, 2011, cash used from operations was $2.2 million, as compared to $3.67 million reported in the year-ago quarter.

QTWW president and CEO Alan Niedzwiecki commented in the release: “Our continued revenue growth and improved operating performance is being driven by the Fisker Karma launch, new customer programs, strong diversification in our customer base, and continued development and application of emerging technologies.  We are excited about the number of new programs initiated over the last six months and the opportunity for these programs to generate significant revenues for the company over the next several years.” CEO Niedzwiecki went on to say: “These programs cut across several technologies including battery electric, plug-in hybrid electric, natural gas vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles.  Over the last several months, we have been successful in securing government funds, introducing our new F-Drive hybrid propulsion system, and announcing a partnership with Dow Chemical/Dow Kokam on the commercialization of an F-150 PHEV program.”

QTWW gained $1.36 to closed Friday’s session at $4.83.  About 4.10 million shares have traded hands during the session, versus the 10-day average volume of 153.81K. In the past 52 weeks, shares of QTWW have traded between a low of $2.25 and a high of $15.00. The stock is currently above its 50-day moving average of $3.98 and below its 200-day moving average of $5.60.
